Along with artist friends William Holman Hunt and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Millais was a founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, espousing a doctrine of decorative naturalism with an emphasis on striking color, minute detail, and historical, literary, and biblical themes.

The painting is fantastic, just having trouble deciding where to hang it as it looks good everywhere. The painting was very well packaged and arrived in good time. I was concerned that it was coming from quite a long way away and might get damaged but I will have no concerns again. I love the painting so much, I am looking at purchasing another.

Beautiful item ! exactly the way it was pictured and it is even more impressive than any picture posted. You really cannot appreciate this without seeing it in person. The paint literally leaps off the canvas and provides a very dynamic experience.
