Flowers

For centuries, flowers have been used to express emotion.Their scent, behaviour in response to nature and physical attributes such as thorns, have led to their association with many different states of mind and being. One good example of a flower painter - Fantin-Latour- , was well known for his flower paintings, which , with their simple composition and color arrangement express the Artist's specific state of view and temper. Artists like him counted many respected contemporaries, such as Manet, Monet and Renoir, although their traditional approach showed a marked contrast to the impressionist style. There are many painters who worked in this genre, whose most famous paintings of flowers we present ih this section ( browse paintings below ).
