      Alfred Glendening began his career as a railway clerk, until he also took up painting as a career. Primarily, Glendening was a painter of genre scenes - A Labour Of Love, The Youngest Daughter of J.S. Gabriel and he worked in the second half of the 19th century. He lived in London, where he painted many of his landscape paintings - The Ferry, Harvest Time, Harvesting At Luccombe, Isle Of Wight. Glendening was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists, and frequently exhibited at the Royal Academy and at Suffolk Street, from 1880.
