      Lefebvre was a French painter renown for his fine female portraits. An instructor of the Académie Julian in Paris, some of his famous students include Elizabeth Jane Gardner Bouguereau (wife of William Bouguereau), William Hart, Childe Hassam, and Frank W. Benson. Many of Lefebvre's famous paintings include Truth (1870), Portrait of Julia Foster Ward and the Reclining Nude (1868), as well as many of his depiction's of allegories.
