This 17 by 23 inch oil painting on canvas - Two Orchids in a Mountain Landscape, painted circa 1870-2, depicts some cattleya orchids and male and female gorgeted woodstar hummingbirds that are native to Columbia. The cover illustration for the catalogue, it is conservatively estimated at $400,000 to $600,000. It sold for $937,500 at the Christie's.
